Our goal is to bring African narratives, especially from Kenya, to the world through film, television, and digital media.
OJ REAL MOVIES LIMITED, a subsidiary of GLOBAL JUICY MEDIA, was established to further this mission by concentrating on film and television production. Based in Kisumu and Siaya, with a presence in Nairobi and Mombasa, OJ REAL MOVIES LIMITED emphasizes regional storytelling and grassroots talent development, producing stories that celebrate African cultures and resonate with global audiences.

Founder
OJ REAL MOVIES LIMITED is the creative vision of Odhiambo Joseph, affectionately known as OJ, a seasoned storyteller who has woven a remarkable tapestry of experiences over his three-decade career. From his early days in Mombasa, where he started as an actor, scriptwriter, and budding director for KBC TV, OJ’s journey has come full circle. He began as a filmmaker, ventured deeply into journalism, and now returns to his first love—filmmaking—bringing with him the breadth and insight gained from his extensive journalism career. Under the banner of OJ REAL MOVIES LIMITED, alongside its parent company GLOBAL JUICY MEDIA, OJ is ready to reintroduce Kenyan stories to the world with a fresh perspective.
OJ’s journey is a rare blend of passion, purpose, and resilience. As a high school teacher in Mombasa, he nurtured young talents from classrooms and workplaces, mentoring individuals who went on to become celebrated actors and filmmakers, like Sikukuu Khamis, Ken Ambani, Susan Kadide, Jacqueline Mulase working with and leading the way for writers like Fakii Kasoloi, Yusuf Dallu, Hillary Namanje and many more. In those early years, he not only crafted stories but also launched careers, fostering an ecosystem of talent rooted in authentic African storytelling.
When OJ transitioned to journalism, his impact widened. Over his 25 years as a journalist, he held various editorial leadership roles and worked with local and international media houses. His tenure at the BBC is particularly noteworthy—OJ climbed the ranks, working as an Editor at BBC Media Action, where he managed SEMA KENYA, a popular regional TV talk show, and later became Head of Swahili Service at the BBC World Service. His career as a journalist took him across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and the Great Lakes Region, giving him a unique perspective on African stories. During this time, he guided and mentored numerous talents who have risen to prominence across Africa’s media landscape.
OJ’s return to filmmaking is fuelled by his passion for authentic African storytelling—an art he has honed with a unique fusion of journalism’s factual rigor and filmmaking’s creative freedom. His vision is to bring the REAL STORIES to the world, focusing on the underrepresented, the culturally rich, and the powerfully personal African narratives that deserve a global audience. With a deep commitment to originality, authenticity, and showcasing stories from Africa’s diverse communities, OJ REAL MOVIES LIMITED and GLOBAL JUICY MEDIA are setting a new benchmark for African film and television production.

At OJ REAL MOVIES LIMITED, we believe in nurturing the next generation of African storytellers. Our Talent Hub is dedicated to discovering, mentoring, and empowering young creatives from all backgrounds, especially those at the grassroots level. Soon, we’ll be launching an internship program designed to provide hands-on experience and professional guidance for emerging filmmakers, scriptwriters, actors, and other creative talents.
This program will be a gateway for passionate individuals who want to grow in the world of film and television. Participants will gain access to industry knowledge, mentorship, and practical experience on real projects, building a foundation for successful careers.
